do you kung foo?

I had to laugh when I came across the quirky illustrations of Simon Oxley, idokungfoo illustrator and designer.

I think Boyfriend would appreciate some of these.

Giggle.

miss m'selle

I was given this gorgeous Spencer & Rutherford tote Miss M'Selle Poison Apple for my birthday in February, from my lovely parents. My Mum loves Spencer & Rutherford... and I guess, so do I!

I also own this sexy Cosmic Express suitcase. Incredibly stylish, I felt like a celebrity walking through the Australian and New Zealand international airports... it is quite heavy though - you must pack LITE!
I also wish for this...
the Speckled Egg make-up brush pouch.

A little luxury never goes astray.

shadow on the wall

I first began listening to Brandi Carlile in 2007, when her album 'The Story' came out. This album has been with me through many challenging times in my life. Listening to her now... and downloaded some more tunes to delight me throughout the day.

mini mapper

Working as a designer/cartographer, I couldn't help but include this gorgeous map I stumbled across while perusing the purl bee this afternoon. Perhaps one day I can use this to find my way there.
:)

so many

I have so many things I want to blog about today. So many. I'm at home working away at my creative space, perusing sources of inspirations and enjoying drinking tea from my new teapot... with intentions of reading my tea leaves at the bottom of my blue and white polka-dot cup.
I've so many inspirational things today. And some of it came from my lovely blog followers, perusing their pages and comments. Thank you
for contributing to my creative day :) Sometimes you just need a nudge in the right direction.

So I've collected a few pics and links for what is making me tick today in hopes of passing on some of my inspiration by sharing it with you here, on my untitled creative journal.

Enjoy! And let me know what you think!
This gorgeous image comes from the lovely Lacey May Belle's blog The White Way of Delight. I love LOVE.
The Cool Hunter site never fails to provide many mediums of inspiration. I love this pic, and want a uber cool snow cabin like this. Sign up for their email newsletter.
I've found a new designer/typographer love, and that is Jessica Hische. The designer behind the Daily Drop Cap, not only inspires daily BUT her extensive folio found here shows her diversity and the applicable nature of her type design. I love it. Above is her typeface 'Buttermilk' and you can buy via myfonts.
Oh! And she has a show opening tomorrow night at the gallery, Lamington Drive, in Melbourne. You'll be able to purchase prints such as this gorgeous one below... Oh - come to Brisbane!
It's officially a type-love day.
Upon A Fold has gorgeous books, stationery, objects, gift cards and wrapping for every paper lover. I could spend all my money on paper goods, accessories and books. I love.

I got a new desktop background from this months featured artist, Wayne Pate, from Design*Sponge. New wallpaper is as good as a holiday! Here it is:

There's nothing like a good magazine to peruse aswell. Check out Australia's yen magazine, online or at your favourite newsagency - this is the current issue:

I really musty get going. Here's a pic of me as a wee one with my cousins... for art's sake! (I'm the ginge in the middle... who would have known?! ;P)

So many things to do. Enjoy those.

austen afternoon

I'm at home while Boyfriend is off watching UFC with the boys. A uni assignment and The Jane Austen Book Club in the mix.  I do love this
movie. One of the inspirations behind The Book Club actually.
It's one of those Sundays, overcast with rain every now and then, a short bust of sunshine and the lounge room to myself.
And so I'll leave you with the opening quote.

"Is not general incivility the very essence of love?" - Jane Austen

Sigh.

homesick

Homesick today. So I've was spending some time on google images (like the coolest person in the world I am) sourcing some pictures to ease the pangs of longing to be there. Just a visit. To sit at home, take the dog for a walk and chat with the parents about everything and nothing. Congregating in the lounge room.

Here are a couple of the pictures I sourced.
Nice, huh.
I know it's only a couple of pictures... but I miss looking at the sky - particularly at sunset out there. I'll have to take my DianaF+ with me at Easter and capture some of my own.

Assignment time now.

process of inspiration

I just love Audrey Kawasaki's whimisical, mysterious and sensual style. I found these pictures on her blog. It's interesting to see another artist's creative process in a few snapshots.

Inspiring. I want a brown paper journal.

two weeks

Stressing out a little over one of my first major projects of the year. It's due in two weeks... not a big deal right... well, let's hope not. I really need to focus and hone in on some extracurricular skill work.

Best get to it huh? I have much inspiration to seek.

sunday morning

Good morning Sunday.

I'm up early to finish one of my uni assignments. As you can see I'm 'all stations go', and my desk is in it's usual state of creative disarray. But I see that as a good thing.

I'm loving the cooler weather that Brisbane is experiencing at the moment. I'm not sure if it's just teasing or that Autumn is really here - the latter is preferable.
I can't wait - the seasons of jeans, boots and booties and cosy jumpers. Scarves, jackets, stockings and huge handbags. Cups of tea, the smell of old books, chai lattes, red wine, dvds, snuggles (yes, Boyfriend! :D) and comfy blankets.

Best make a start on my uni work.

But before I go (no doubt I'll be back today), I'd like to wish my beautiful friend, Jasmine, a lovely 25th Birthday. I've known this girl since I was 10 - my childhood best friend, and we're still going strong! Can't wait to see her when I head home for Easter.

Happy Birthday Jas!

and Happy Sunday to you all.

i just hit 'repeat', again

Love this song. Now I know all the words.

Mowgli's Road Marina & The Diamonds

Cuckoo
Ten silver spoons coming after me
One life with one dream on repeat
I'll escape if I try hard enough
Till King of the Jungle calls my bluff

Oh Lord
I have been told
That I must take the unforsaken road
There's a fork in the road
I'll do as as I am told
And I don't know, don't know, don't know, don't know
Who I want to be

Cuckoo
You say Y-E-S to everything
Will that guarantee you a win?
Do you think you will be good enough
To love others and to be loved?

Oh Lord
Now I can see
The cutlery will keep on chasing me (forsaken road)
There's a fork in the road
I'll do as as I am told
And I don't know, don't know, don't know, don't know
Who I want to be

We are the spoons, metal-ly mean
We scooped our way into your dreams
To knock the knives out bloody cold
And lead you down the unforsaken road
There's a fork in the road
I'll do as as I am told
And I don't know, don't know, don't know, don't know
Who I want to be

snap, crackle, cake pop?

Have you ever heard of Cake Pops? I came across these charming creatures while blog perusing, as usual, this morning.

Different, to say the least!

Where were these around the Wonderland Tea Party time?

bookbook

Madeline (my MacBook Pro) needs one of these. She told me she'll feel better about herself, and so will I. Best not argue.

love and anger

To experience love, you must feel your own anger.

If you want to feel more love, you must allow yourself to feel your anger. If you are afraid of anger, find a good therapist (who's not afraid of anger!) to help you learn safe, constructive ways to experience and express anger. Underneath anger, there is always some way you've been hurt or some way you've given your power away. When you uncover and express the hurt, the healing can take place. When you learn to assert your needs and feelings directly, you'll feel less anger. Eventually, you will feel love and compassion toward the person you were angry at.
Our natural state is love when it is not blocked by repressed emotions. Our spirits automatically feel love. When we embrace and make peace with our own feelings, we will recognize the being in others and feel love for them.

Affirmation -
I am learning to feel and express my anger appropriately and constructively.

Me to a 't' at the moment. Moody as hell and can't work out why. Maybe PMS, but never experienced too much of that.
Whilst designing for Lido and speaking with my boss, I picked up the book 'Awakening' by Shakti Gawain and flicked through to today's date, and this passage totally resonated with me. Although, I don't think it's me angry too much at anyone else, it's more that my body is angry for not enough meditation and quiet time.

Best work on that.

It's surely where you'd fine these enchanting new pieces from New York fashion and jewellery designer, Molly-Hanna.

the very first

Perhaps a moment for a wee celebration?

I got my first blog comment today! And this means that someone (other than those special friends and family) is perusing my creative ramble!
Check out her blog:

Lovely.

hording, still

An image I snagged sometime ago.
From the Bon Iver site... I'm pretty sure.

Currently playing - Re: Stacks.

Admittedly, just now I found this. I love the new song from Marina & the Diamond's hitting my JJJ. I just found that the last quote in this blog entry from the said artiste's was gorgeous.

"Success is not permanent.
The same is also true of failure"
- Marina

And I have to admit - I'm still inlove with quills, darling.

horder

I tend to sit at work, or wherever and conjure all these ideas, muses, THINGS that I'd like to share here on this Untitled Creative Journal and so upon going through the 'horded' files on my Mads here - it's about time I put them up.

Interesting or not. Once, they were.

I really want to paint one of the walls on my balcony with chalkboard paint like this... add in a couple of plants, some 'erbs and a bird.

Lagerfield... Germany's finest fashion-everything?
Well, he's certainly got this Alice In Wonderland theme down-pat... Perhaps he should have come to my party?

In the early days of my quill obsession...

I'm still yet to really create an identity for my freelance company, For The Quill And Ink, though don't you always find yourself the most self-critical? I'm not that makes sense, but it always hard to capture all of your essence... you always want to add something more. Like, should I keep 'For The Quill And Ink' for my own personal rambling and muses and think of another company name OR roll with what I first loved...?

Ahhh... creative soul that can't make a decision? Mmm-hmph.

bringing sexy back

For this Vogue photoshoot, Nicole Kidman, has lost her dyed blonde locks for her natural red - and I couldn't be more pleased. Blonde is a phase I went through myself, but knowing how nice it is to be natural again - I tip my hat to Ms. Kidman.

Let's face it - how many It Girls are donning the ginger locks? And those gorgeous copper tones!

Embrace your red I say! Stay au naturale.

I love it!
