... like rabbits

Get your Easter appropriate wallpaper from frankie magazine.
And my work computer is officially cuter.

home is

- to me, often where your parents are.
And in a few hours, my sister and I are taking a road trip south-west all the way home - for five whole days. The brosef is joining for the Easter festivities aswell.
Amen to that.
Such a good looking pair. Love.
And here they are, Mum & Dad... in the el romantico days before I was perhaps even a sparkle in Dad's eye. Ha!

See you soon family!

a personal reminder

{sorry, I can't remember where I found it! Link me if you can.}

a right royal pair

... of winter woolen gloves.
Maybe you are, maybe you're not into the Royal Wedding of Wills and Kate in the coming couple of weeks, but it seems many of us are. Donna Wilson has created this pair of winter warmers just in time for the wedding festivities.

A little kitsch, a little cute... I wonder how many Royal lovers will don a pair of these on their mitts?

You?

not to be greedy

But I also wouldn't mind either of these, or both, or something similar.
{here they are}

ugg-a-luggs

NB: (ugg-a-luggs) that was a name we used to refer to our ugg boot slippers as kids.
Australia is famous for it's super comfy, super warm, super high quality ugg boots and slippers... and it just so happens, I've found my dream pair for this winter.
Dakota slippers, from UGG Australia
I currently have some tall, fawn ugg boots from The Ugg Boot Lady, but I think it's time for an upgrade... and look at them!! They're so cute.

Fluffy moccasins.

Perfect for Easter, in Inverell.

a curious case

Last night, in between spring cleaning my house, I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The first time I saw this film starring Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt, was around two years ago. I've found the tale enchanting and not only does it capture your curiosity - it captures your heart.

It begins by you being drawn to wonder, to the euphoria of young love, to the sometimes harsh realities of our life paths and finally to a heartbreaking reconciliation. I was entranced in the love story of this man's life.
Fiction, of course, but a book I must now read. Originally a short story - the prose was adapted to script and so the cinematic magic was unveiled on a Christmas Day (2008, if I recall correctly).

I generally like to read the book before the movie, but in this case, I find it hard to think I could be disappointed by either medium by 'doing it backwards'.
I guess we'll see. Perhaps it's the novel to follow Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre...
So looking forward to Easter break (ONE MORE SLEEP!)

But without any further ado, here are some stills from the film.

I recommend that you watch this gorgeous film.

Happy Wednesday.

a little uplift

It's the way you think. That's your purpose. It's never been about what work you choose, what gifts you develop, or what niche you fill - let these be for your pleasure.

Think as only you can think, which will lead to feelings that only you can feel, from which connections will be made, lives will be changed, and worlds will come tumbling into existence.

{a note from The Universe}

take flight

Agree? I think it's time to set it free.

my sound of now

Now playing... on repeat, She's So Hard.
I love great Australian music - this Sydney quartet works for me.

freudian paradise

I had the most bazaar dream last night... drug dealers, swimming pools, uni friends, being chased. Bumping into old school friends, talking about the apocalypse. Alice-esque blue pinafore dresses, my hometown, my brother and sister, black cows that can swim under water.
Yellow under-garments and headbands, crossing the weir, being kidnapped by my brother and sister in my old red ute, to head for the safety of home.
Bikinis, chicken fillets, strange houses, bathrooms and going off to swim in the Macintyre river at home... me, guiding the way to the 'best spot'.

No idea, absolutely NO IDEA.
I shall have to analyse this one, with my trusty dream dictionary.

My mind is perhaps on creative overdrive?

How do you make sense of your nightly subconscious escapades?

some days

... are a little harder than others, and I have to remind myself
And you feel so much better when you do.
Come on soldier.

{the same heart, you ought to know rather well by now}

pippy long locks

I love this hair, this colour, and yes I'm bias. But that's okay.
I can't wait until my hair is this long, again.
{I heart it, you heart it, we heart it}

before the clock strikes twelve

One day I'll dress up as a fairytale princess... or maybe I'll become one. Hah... who knows?!

But if the time comes, could someone please snap a pic of me like this? Charming isn't it.

red velvet

I don't know about you... but I didn't know what a red velvet cake was until last night. A little slow on the up-take ey? And to think - I've loved the work the girls over at Red Velvet Art do for... well, it could be eons.

Not only does this cake sound amazing, it looks positively scrumptious aswell. I'm in one of those cake-craving moods you know, but I'll just have to settle for adding it to my 'To Bake' list and salivate over the following delicious images.
The cake.
The cupcakes.
The cake-pops!
The Red Velvet kisses.
Oh. Did I mention it has cream cheese frosting... oh yes.

Where can I find one in Brisbane, without making one?
Someone help me sate my 'hunger'.

;P

{of course I heart these}

familie

Today, my Grandad would be 85. He passed away nearly six years ago. May he Rest In Peace, my Grandma too.
Today, I thought I'd post a photo, not only to commemorate him - but my family.
Here is a vintage family photograph I recently acquired. A family dinner, with friends. And in true family style it feels so European... wine, fine conversation, fabulous food and the company of those you hold close.
From left: Dad, Mum, Grandad, Grandma, Aunty Karen, Aunty Lynn and Uncle John.
Love.

bienvenue avril

It's April, c'est Avril!
Can you believe it? Already?
Well, I think it's divine. Autumn will finally arrive... and I am ever so glad. It'll be a little windier, a little cooler and the world will be filled with colour. Those beautiful hues of autumn... fall if you will.
Easter is upon us soon, and it will be time spent with family. How excited I am for five days of this.
The Easter bunny shall visit (yes, he still visits me), a religious holiday will be mourned and celebrated, hot cross buns and creme eggs will be eaten... hahhh - three weeks to go!
Through found images, I'd like to share things that I love about April, this time of year and things that just seem to fit the theme.
Dear Peter Rabbit.
Leaves on the plain trees turning in Inverell. My hometown.
Easter egg hunts, country lanes and wicker baskets.
Toy bunnies and real bunnies... little biddy ones.
Autumn leaves...
... worn, leaf-crunching Mary Janes.
This collection of autumn-inspired creative tid-bits.
Enjoying good books, immersed in autumn.
Wee owls.
This charming and mysterious illustration.
Bookshops, bicycles and rain.
And listening to Laura Marling.
A Happy Monday and an amazing April ahead to you, and you and you.

last monday

I wrote this...

'Holding my breath' Chloé Newby

I woke to be holding my
breath.
I sat in my chair
scaling the walls,
But frozen in space and time.
Remembering a time
when I felt truly alive.

... and I speak because I can.
