'Served' with the latest creative finds by The Cool Hunter earlier today, I was presented with the GORGEOUS typography book created by Jackson Cook.

The type inset goes like so:

This book was a project for my Advanced Typography class at SUNY Purchase College. The assignment was to simply create a book about typography, using appropriated text from other sources. The layout and example paragraphs was entirely up to the class to decide for themselves. I decided to draw inspiration from old wanted posters, and victorian typography for my book to create an old western feel to the book. I tried to make the project an exercise in creating as much contrast and color on the page, without actually using any color.

Isn't it funky? Tres cool.

dashboard finds

I love finding new sources of quirky, comfy, homely art. And this afternoon whilst scrolling through my dashboard I came across this lovely piece:

 by Melanie from Spread The Love. Simply adorable little pieces that give you a warm, fuzzy feeling. I particularly love this one, just as I love the song it quotes 'Home' by Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros. If only I had my earphones here at uni, I could be bopping along to it right now!

Well, into my For The Quill And Ink inspiration folder, and off I go to research for assignments and freelance projects for the afternoon.

What a start to the week - so much to think about.

bookshop inspiration no.1

Another fabulous idea for a bookshelf... oh I can't wait to have my own bookshop!

I spoke about this with Boyfriend last night and have to say I am excited about the future. So I thought I could share some of that with you. The designs a little unconventional, a little mad - but then again, so am I. Love it.

another late night

The reason for my late and restless nights of recent have been due to my flu I 'miraculously' caught (Pah!), however, it has given me plenty of time to think when I simply haven't had the energy to do much else. So I'm contemplating on sharing some of my old illustrations with you... should I? I'm not sure. I mean one of the reasons to have an artistically inspired blog would be to promote oneself would you not think? Silly question. Anyway. My aim is to share a few pieces of me with you lovely folk over the next short while. I've also been inspired by the lovely Meet Me At Mike's craft book and may take on a Julie/Julia project in the not too distant futures with craft projects... it's in the pipeline anyway.

Love, like, or otherwise - let me know your thoughts - I've got a thick skin (I think) and would love to know anyway.

A late Happy Easter to you all.

Unfortunately during the course of the weekend I managed to pick up a flu bug and so have been quite ill since I've been back. Boo, I know.

Today I'm at home working on a few home projects and must-do things, whilst watching Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince with the wee sis and my friend Kirsten. Trying not to pass on my illness all the while.

Above is the new desktop wallpaper I downloaded from Design*Sponge for the month of April. Although the weather has been quite warm here in Brisbane today, the bouts of chilliness prove that autumn has definitely arrived... I can't wait for the real winter wooliness to begin.
